Generally there is no restriction for a govt employee for share trading. But there might a technical restriction. Most of the govt employment contract restricts the employees from doing business.Day trading and futures and options contract will be treated as Business under income tax act for IT filing purpose. Hence in that case, there would technical restrictions on doing these kinds of trade. Anyhow there is no restriction for investment like, Short term, long term etc. Swing trade being the nature of short term investment, can be done.
