Do I need to make 120 consecutive payments to be eligible for PSLF?
Answered on October 02,2023
Your 120 qualifying monthly payments don’t need to be consecutive. For example, if you have a period of employment with a nonqualifying employer, you will not lose the payment counts for prior qualifying payments you made. All income-driven repayment (IDR) plans (plans that base your monthly payment on your income and household size) are qualifying repayment plans for PSLF.
Apply PSLF and check if you qualify by using our help tool here: https://studentaid.gov/pslf/ The form will be electronically sent to PSLF servicer, MOHELA (one of the federal loan servicers, who administers the PSLF Program on our behalf). MOHELA will determine approvals and next steps based on your info.
