How much does it cost to re-register 20 years old car?

As per the Central Motor Vehicles Act, it is mandatory for all private vehicles to be re-registered after 15 years from the date of original registration. Post which, the registration can be renewed in an interval of 5 years as long as it is considered safe and roadworthy by the RTO.
Fee for re-registration is as follows.
- Renewal fee for Car is INR 600.
- Fitness Fee is INR 200.
- Inspection fee is INR 400.
- Smart Card Fee is INR 33
- Card Cost and Paper Document is INR 187
- Tax is INR 33
- Postal is INR 35
Total Fee is INR 1488
NB:
A late fee of INR 500/month in case applied after expiry of Registration Certificate Period
Fine of 50 per day after the expiry of fitness certificate + 500 if not applied before 30 days.
