What is Young Innovators Programme of KDISC?






The objective of the program is to develop an ecosystem for identifying youth with bright minds for solving real life problems, mentoring them, attaching them to research institutions/ partner institutions with scholarships for one year and help them build a career around the innovations, researching, re-discovering, incubating and accelerating the innovation. As a part of the proposal K-DISC shall put in place an ICT based support system for identifying promising ideas and processing through the funnel of innovation with appropriate linkages with academia, industry, investors and civil society for promoting innovations with sound business models and innovations with social relevance.

YIP program is for the students studying above class 8 across Kerala. This includes Schools, ITI & College students. So if your institution falls in the above category you are eligible for the YIP program. And the Age band : 12 years to 35 years. The YIP registration is teams based, each students teams having two to five members.

In 2021, YIP is being integrated and expanded with ASAP; the challenge will be organised in 3 phases covering 20 sectors. Any group of students or researchers in Kerala can register for this. After registration, the applications will be carefully examined at domain centres. Those who are shortlisted will present their proposals at the district level. Rs.25000 will be given as prize to 8000 groups. 2000 groups shortlisted from here will get Rs.50000 as prize. The government will provide technical and financial help for 3 years to transform the prototype into products of those who are selected at the state level.
