Government of Telangana have formulated the 2BHK or double bedroom housing scheme in the month of October 2015 with a view to provide dignity to the poor by providing 100% subsidized housing.
The "Double Bedroom Housing" provides two bedrooms, hall, kitchen and two toilets covering 560 Sft plinth area. The plot area is 125 Sq yards for an independent house in rural area and worked out to 36 Sq yards of undivided land share in G++ pattern houses in urban areas. Land is thus provided free of cost apart from the cost of the dwelling unit.
Benefits of Double Bedroom Housing Scheme in Telangana
Under 2BHK housing scheme, the beneficiaries neither take a loan nor contribute which is a great boon for rural and urban poor families, for acquiring the dwelling unit. It is a paradigm shift from a credit and subsidy based scheme to a "fully subsidized scheme" which create a sound economic asset with a hygienic living environment for the beneficiary, there by contributing enormously to the socio-economic growth of the individual and as well as the community.
Eligibility Criteria for Double Bedroom Housing Scheme in Telangana

An eligible family should come under the BPL (below-poverty-line) category with valid Food Security Card with number

Home will be sanctioned in the housewife’s name

Homes will be sanctioned for families which are homeless and also those currently living in kuccha homes, huts or rented homes

Family should not have ownership of any concrete home and other family members should not have got homes under different housing schemes like INDIRAMMA
-
5% of 2 BHK homes will be reserved for persons with disabilities or differently-abled citizens

Target Groups
Rural: SC/ST: 50%, Minorities: 7% and balance 43% for others.
Urban: SC: 17%, ST: 6%, Minorities: 12% and balance 65% for others.

How to apply for Double Bedroom Housing Scheme in Telangana?
Follow the below steps to apply for 2BHK housing scheme.

Get the application form from any of the MeeSeva centre or download it from here.

Enter the food security card number followed by details of applicant and all his family members.

Enter your current address

Fill in the details of your family income
-
Enter Aadhaar number
-
Enter other details such as disabled family members, Asara pension scheme members etc.

Submit the filled up application form along with the supporting documents.
Selection of Beneficiaries for Double Bedroom Housing Scheme in Telangana
Beneficiaries are selected through the following process.

The villages for coverage of 2BHK scheme will be selected by the District level committee.

The applications are called for 2BHK from eligible beneficiaries by the District Collectors and same will be collected during Gram Sabha by the designated officer.

The preliminary scrutiny will be done at Gram Sabha to arrive at actual eligible and prepare a list accordingly and forwarded to Tahsildar of that mandal for thorough verification of beneficiaries.

The Tahsildar after thorough verification and vetting list of applicants, will submit the eligible final list of applicants to the District Collector.

As per the schedule given by the District Collector, the list verified by the Tahsildar will be again placed in the Gram Sabhas for its final approval.

The list finalized by Gram Sabha will be approved by the District Collector and will be made available to public.

In case of any complaints, they will get enquired by the District Level Officer, nominated by the District Collector and findings will be placed before the Appellate Committee and the orders passed by the Committee will be treated as final.
