Punjab continues to enjoy the status of bread basket of India as it plays an important role in contributing the largest part of the central food grain pool.
Government of Punjab had launched "Atta Dal Scheme" w.e.f. 15.08.2007. This scheme was brought under the ambit of National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA 2013), implemented in the State w.e.f. December, 2013 and re-launched as New Atta Dal Scheme (NADS). |
Eligibility Criteria for Atta Dal Scheme in Punjab
Following are the eligibility criteria for atta dal scheme in Punjab.

Families identified under Antodya Anna Yojana (AAY) will be considered eligible under this scheme.

The families who were identified as Below Poverty Line (BPL) as per the survey conducted in 2002 as per the criteria of the Government of India and the beneficiary families who were identified under the 'Atta Dal Scheme' of the State Government. will automatically be considered eligible as a Priority household.

Homeless families and families living in mud houses.

Families whose heads are handicapped/disabled (disability should be more than 40% as per certificate issued by concerned Civil Surgeon/Medical Board)

Families of landless agricultural laborers

Families of small and marginal farmers (arable up to 2.5 acres and barani up to 5 acres).

Families headed by a widow or a single woman

Old age pensioners, who have no other family members for support, provided their annual income from all means is up to Rs. 60,000/-
- SC/BC People holding blue cards.
Ineligible Families under Atta Dal Scheme in Punjab
Following are the ineligible families under Atta Dal Scheme in Punjab.

All Income Tax Payers

All VAT payers who are registered under the Punjab VAT Act 2009.

All service tax payers.

All professional taxpayers.

Families having more than 2.5 acres of cultivable land or more than 5 acres of barren/ barren land.

Families who have AC or a four wheeler motor vehicle.

Families owning or operating an enterprise registered with the Government.

Employees employed in Government of India/ State Government and Union Territory or its Board/ Corporation/ Industry, Municipal Corporation/ Municipal Parishad/ Municipal Committee/ Reform Trust etc. (Excluding Contract / Raw Wages) Family (Family means husband, wife and children).

Families whose annual family income from all means is more than Rs. 60,000/-

Families who have their own house or flat of 750 square feet or more built on a plot of 100 square yards or more in a municipal corporation or municipal council of the state.
Benefits under Atta Dal Scheme in Punjab
Following are the benefits under Atta Dal Scheme in Punjab.

Provide 30 Kg Wheat to per Person at 2Rs.

The distribution will be done at the doorstep of the beneficiary directly by the department.

The Biannual entitlement of wheat will be given at one go.
- Every member gets five kg of wheat per month.
