How to get Birth Certificate in Arunachal Pradesh?

Birth Certificate is an essential identity document that records the birth of a child. The certificate is used as evidence for a person’s birth and is issued by the State Government to its citizens.

Eligibility Criteria

Any person who is born in Arunachal Pradesh is eligible to get Birth certificate.

Documents Required

Follow are the documents required for applying Birth Certificate in Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Application on a plain paper

  • Date and Place of Birth report

  •  Medical Certificate in case of delivery at Hospital or Nursing Home

  •  Affidavit specifying place, date and time of birth of the person

  •  Discharge slip from Hospital

Process of Birth Registration

Follow below are the process to register Birth in Arunachal Pradesh.

  • On delivery at Hospital/ Health Centre, Maternity Home or other like Institutions, a person has to report to Birth Registration Officer or Medical Officer In-Charge with enclosing Discharge Slip within 21 days from the birth of the child.

  • On delivery at Home, the parent has to report through an application on a plain paper within 1 month of birth of the child. Beyond 1 month the registration has to be done on submission of an affidavit.

  • First, the parent or the person who registers the name of the child at the Registration Office has to fill up the prescribed form available with the Register.

  • After verification with the actual records of the concerned Hospital, the Birth Certificate is issued to the applicant.

Note: In case the birth has not been registered within the specified time of its occurrence, the certificate is issued after due police verification ordered by the revenue authorities.

Delay in Birth Registration

The time period for notifying occurrence of the birth or stillbirth event to the Registrar is 21 days from the date of birth. For events reported for registration within 21 days of occurrence, copy of extracts of prescribed particulars from Birth Register will be provided free of charge.

The information on the occurrence of the event can also be reported to you after the expiry of 21 days. Such events fall under the category of delayed registration as under:

  • More than 21 days but within 30 days of its occurrence.

  • After 30 days but within one year of its occurrence.

  • Beyond one year of its occurrence.

Application Fees

Delayed registration in Arunachal Pradesh is subjected to payment of a late fee and permission of the prescribed authority.

  • The birth event, information on which is given to the Registrar after the expiry of 21 days but within 30 days of its occurrence, shall be registered on payment of a late fee of Rupee Two.

  • The birth event, information on which is given to the Registrar after 30 days but within one year of its occurrence, shall be registered only with the written permission of the prescribed authority and on the production of an affidavit made before a notary public or any other officer authorized in this behalf by the State Government and payment of a late fee of Rupee Five.

  • The birth event which has not been registered within one year of its occurrence shall be registered only on an order made by a magistrate of the first class after verifying the correctness of the event and payment of a late fee of Rupee Ten. 

Delayed Birth Registration Process

In case, the birth is not already registered at the time of birth, the following documents are required to get Birth Certificate in Arunachal Pradesh.  

  • Get Non-Availability Certificate from the Registrars office of Arunachal Pradesh. The Non-Availability Certificate is an acknowledgement or endorsement from the authorities stating that the certificate is not available with them. Applicants have to fill a form and submit it to the Registrar, who will then verify the data and issue the acknowledgement

  • Joint Photo Affidavit of Parents

  • School Leaving Certificate

  • Photo ID of Applicant

  • If the child is born at residence, an affidavit from Parents. In the case of Hospital Birth, Certificate from Hospital.

Follow the below steps to apply online for Birth Certificate in Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Visit the Municipal Council website of Arunachal Pradesh.

  • If you are an existing user, login using User id and Password. Else click on "Register".

  • Click on“Next”.

  • Click on "Submit".

Apply Offline

Follow the below steps to apply offline for Birth Certificate in Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Visit the Municipal Corporation Office of your district.

  • Fill the application form.

  • Submit the required document.

Track Status

  • Visit Muncipal Council website of Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Enter application number in "Application Status".

Change name in Birth Certificate

Correction can happen in Child's name, Parent's name (Minor Corrections, such as spelling mistakes, surname inclusion, initials inclusion), Address, Hospital Name or total name correction of Parents which alters the main name totally.

  • Request letter from the parent whose child name has to be corrected

d) Total name correction of Parents which alters the main name totally

  • Order from the court only

e) Hospital Name

  • Request letter from the person whose birth certificate has to be corrected

  • A letter from Hospital/ Discharge Certificate copy

  • Photo ID of Applicant
