A domicile certificate is an official statement provided to the citizen by the state government confirming the residence of the applicant. A Domicile/Residence Certificate is generally issued to prove that the person bearing the Certificate is a Domicile/Resident of the State/UT by which the Certificate is being issued. 

Domicile Certificate can be made only in one State/UT. Obtaining Domicile Certificate from more than one State/UT is an offence.

This Certificate is required as proof of residence to avail Domicile/Resident Quotas in educational institutions and the Government Service, as also in case of jobs where residents are preferred.

Several educational institutions reserve seats depending on the domicile status of the applicant. Similarly, benefits are also available in some cases of recruitment giving preference to local candidates. This certificate is required to avail of such benefits. Institutions giving loans as proof of place of residence may also require this certificate. Some organizations/institutions have different modalities e.g. different fee structures for NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) and require this certificate for checking purposes.

  • An Individual who is a citizen of India.

  • An Individual who is a residing continuously for the last three years within the territorial jurisdiction of NCT of Delhi

    • Aadhaar Card

    • PAN Card

    • Ration Card with Photo

    • Voter ID Card

    • Passport

    • Driving License

  • Proof of continuous Stay for the past 3 years in Delhi

  • Residence Proof

  • Applicant needs to sign the Self-Declaration form provided with the application form.

  • Identity Proof of Parents (in case of a minor)

  • One Passport size Coloured Photograph of the Beneficiary

How to Register on Delhi E-District Portal?

Follow the below steps to register on Delhi e-district portal.

  • Visit E-district website.

  • Click on 'Login/Register'.

  • Click on 'Register'.

  • Select your document type and enter the document number.

  • An access code and password will be sent on your registerd mobile number.

  • Enter the access code and password and click on 'Register'.

How to Apply Online for Domicile Certificate in Delhi?

Follow the below steps to apply online for Domicile Certificate through E-district website.

  • Visit E-district website.

  • Login using your User ID and password to login to the website

  • Select 'Revenue' under 'Services'.

  • Select 'Issuance of Domicile Certificate' from the list.

  • You will be able to see your basic details entered during registration.

  • Click on 'Next'.
  • Fill your details carefully

  • Upload the documents.

  • Click on submit to submit the application

  • Make the required payment.

How to Apply through CSC or Tehsildar Office for Domicile Certificate in Delhi?

You can also visit any of the Citizen Service Centre to apply for Domicile Certificate. Please note the following points for applying through CSC.

  • Beneficiary’s self-attested copy of the original documents is to be produced while applying at Citizen Service Centre (CSC).

  • Original declarations have to be submitted to the concerned SDM/Tehsildar/CSC by hand or speed post/registered post along with the Application /Acknowledgement number.  

  • The beneficiary himself/herself /any of his family members should be present at the CSC for the photograph or submit his/her photograph.
