An Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate is an official document issued by the government to certify an individual or family's eligibility for reservation or benefits under various government schemes, policies, and educational institutions, specifically aimed at economically disadvantaged sections of society.
Eligibility Criteria to Apply for EWS Certificate in Bihar
A resident of Bihar of general category is eligible for an EWS certificate, if their yearly income is Rs. 8,00,000.
Also persons whose family owns or possesses any of the following assets shall be excluded from being identified as EWS, irrespective of the family income:-
- Five (5) acres of agricultural land or more.
- A residential flat covering an area of one thousand (1,000) square feet or more.
- A residential plot of one hundred (100) square yards or more located within a notified municipal corporation.
- A residential plot of two hundred (200) square yards or more located outside a notified municipal corporation.
The term "Family" for this purpose will include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years.

Once logged in to the Service Plus, click on ‘Apply for services’.
