Under Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana, the daughters of below poverty line families or widows or destitute or families earning less than Rs. 35000-/ year are given financial help for their marriage by the Government of Himachal Pradesh.

Objectives of Mukhya Mantri Kanyadaan Yojana

The main purpose of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the parents guardians of the destitute girls for the marriage of those girls who have no source of income, are above 18 years of age and needed to be a bonafide resident of Himachal Pradesh. The marriage grant will be given even if the girl from Himachal Pradesh is marrying a boy from outside the State of Himachal Pradesh.

Benefits under Mukhya Mantri Kanyadaan Yojana

The marriage grant of Rs. 40,000/- (Forty thousand only), in each case shall be admissible to the parents/guardians of the destitute girls/ women for their marriage. In case of the inmates of Nari Sewa Sadan/ Nari Niketan, marriage grant of Rs. 51,000/ Fifty one thousand only), shall be admissible to the girls/women for their marriage. The State Government shall be competent to increase the amount from time to time keeping in view the cost of living.

Eligibility Criteria for Mukhya Mantri Kanyadaan Yojana

Following are the eligibility criteria for Mukhya Mantri Kanyadaan Yojana.

• Girl whose father is not alive and the whole guardian's income does not exceed Rs 35,000/- per annum. However, it shall exclude income from MNREGA.

• Girl whose father is incapacitated or bedridden because of physical or mental disability including prolonged illness and whose family income does hot exceed Rs. 35,000/- per annum. However, it shall exclude income from MNREGA.

• Orphan girls/ neglected girls and women including inmates of Nari Niketan/ former inmates of Balika Ashrams having no regular source of income.

• Deserted/divorced women whose income does not exceed Rs. 35,000/- per annum. However, it shall exclude income from MNREGA.

• Girls/women in moral danger or rescued from immoral traffic.

• Destitute Women/ Girl released after undergoing the sentence of Imprisonment under any law.

• Daughters of divorced/deserted women whose annual income does not exceed Rs. 35,000/- per annum. However, it shall exclude income from MNREGA.
