Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojna was launched by the government of Haryana to to honor girl child and have them married gracefully.For this purpose, Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojna has been implemented to ensure that the girls from poor families and daughters of widows/destitute women, sports women and orphan girl child, are married graciously.

Amount of shagun

Category I

Widow /Divorced/Destitute/ Orphan and Destitute children. (living below poverty line or whose family income is less than one lac p.a.)

  • Total amount of shagun : 51000/-

  • To be paid on or before celebration of marriage.: 46000/-

  • To be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate: 5000/-

Category II

SC/DT families living below poverty line.

  • Total amount of shagun:51,000/-
  • To be paid on or before celebration of marriage: 46,000/-
  • To be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate: 5000/-

Category III

Sports woman (Any caste/any income).

  • Total amount of shagun: 31,000/-
  • To be paid on or before celebration of marriage: : 31,000/-

Category IV

All sections of BPL other than Scheduled Castes.

  • Total amount of shagun: 11,000/-
  • To be paid on or before celebration of marriage: 10,000/-
  • To be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate: 1000/-

Category V

All section’s families (including SC/BC) having land holding of less than 2.5 acres  or family annual income is less than Rs. 1,00,000

Category VI

Mass marriage

  • Total amount of shagun: 51,000/-
  • To be paid on or before celebration of marriage: 46,000
  • To be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate:  5000/-

Category VII

Divyangjan

  • If new married couple both are disabled.

    • Total amount of shagun: 51,000/-

    • To be paid after celebration of marriage: 51,000/-

  • If one spouse is disabled out of new married couple.

    • Total amount of shagun: 31,000/-

    • To be paid after celebration of marriage: 31,000/-

Benefits of Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojna

Under this scheme a grant of Rs15000 is given to the people of Scheduled Caste/Denotified Tribes/Tapriwas Jatis living below the poverty line on the occasion of marriage of their daughters.

Eligibility criteria for Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojna

  • The beneficiary should be Haryana domicile.

  • The girl is 18 years of age,ie the minimum legal age for the marriage of a girl on the date of the marriage.

  • The name of the beneficiary should be in the list of below poverty line(BPL).

  • The grant will be available only upto the marriage of 2 daughters in a family.

  • This grant is also given in the marriage of a woman who becomes widow or divorce and wants remarriage provided she is otherwise eligible for this grant and not availed this grant earlier for her own marriage.

How to apply for Mukhya Mantri Vivah Shagun Yojna ?

  • The parents seeking this grant will submit the application to the concerned Tehsil Welfare Officer/District Welfare Officer in the proforma enclosed at Annexure A below.

  • The application for the grant will be submitted at any time prior to the actual date of marriage of the girl or within 30 days on the completion of the marriage ceremony.

  • Any application submitted after the 30 days of completion of marriage ceremony shall also be entertained and will be put up to concerned Deputy Commissioner,who after conducting such enquiry as he deem fit and after satisfying himself/herself about the genuineness of the marriage may condone the delay of submission of application and allow the benefit under the scheme.

  • The District Welfare Officer after completing the required formalities will submit the case to the concerned Deputy Commissioner who would be sanctioning authority under this scheme.The amount will be drawn by the District Welfare Officer concerned from Treasury and disburse to the applicant in the shape of a Bank draft and will obtain the receipt in duplicate from the payee which will be kept in the official record as a necessary voucher of payment. All efforts shall be made by the concerned authorities to ensure that the grant is disbursed on or before the date of marriage.

  • After the performance of the marriage ceremony, a certificate will be submitted by the beneficiary in the form given at Annexure B confirms that the marriage has actually taken place. In case this certificate is not submitted within one month of the date of marriage, the District Welfare Officer shall submit the case to the Deputy Commissioner who may order that the grant is liable to be refunded or the amount is recovered as arrears of land revenue.
