The Nikshay Poshan Yojana is being implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for providing nutritional support to TB patients.
Beneficiaries of Nikshay Poshan Yojana
All notified TB patients are beneficiaries of the scheme.
Benefits of Nikshay Poshan Yojana
Financial incentive of Rs.500/- per month for each notified TB patient for the duration for which the patient is on anti-TB treatment.
The scheme is registered under Direct Benefit Transfer. The incentives can be distributed in Cash (only via DBT preferably through Aadhaar enabled bank accounts) or in-kind. The States that are already distributing incentives in-kind may continue to do so subject to the condition that the total value of the food basket being distributed must not be less than Rs. 500 per month. In such states where such ‘in-kind’ support is provided by the state; concurrence should be taken from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
Eligibility Criteria for applying Nikshay Poshan Yojana
Following are the eligibility criteria for applying Nikshay Poshan Yojana.

The TB patient must be notified on or after 1st April 2018

All existing TB patients currently undergoing treatment are eligible to receive incentives.

The patient must be registered/notified on the official nikshay portal.
Documents required for applying Nikshay Poshan Yojana
Following are the documents required for the Application process.

Bank Account details needs to be presented to avail this scheme.

Doctor’s certificate – As only TB patients will be able to apply for this scheme, it is mandatory for them to submit necessary medical papers. These papers will support the claim of patients.

Application form – Apart from medical certificates, patients need submit their application forms as well. The form will offer respective authority members details about patients.
Funding of Nikshay Poshan Yojana
The scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme under National Health Mission (NHM). Financial norms of NHM in terms of cost-sharing, are applicable to the scheme.
Area of implementation of Nikshay Poshan Yojana
This scheme is implemented across all States and UTs in India.
Schedule of payment of Nikshay Poshan Yojana
Each TB patient whether public or private sector notified must be notified on the Nikshay, platform.
For ease of transaction, following arrangement will be followed –

The payment schedule for patients already notified on Nikshay will also be the same. However, payment to such a patient shall be for the remaining period of treatment.

For pediatric TB patients where Bank accounts are not available, the money shall be deposited in parents/guardians accounts whose details are to be sought and entered in Nikshay against the patient’s records.

For patients not having a Bank account or Aadhaar number, health staff will facilitate the opening of Bank a/c for the patient preferably under Jan Dhan Yojna, and will also facilitate his/her Aadhaar enrolment.

Need for Nikshay Poshan Yojana Portal
The central govt. has created Nikshay Poshan Yojana Portal for the following purposes.

Creating a platform for TB treatment – This portal will enable govt. to monitor TB patients and offer them assistance so that they can get the upper hand on the disease.

Recording details of TB patients – The concerned dept. will take necessary steps to record data of all patients who make Nikshay Poshan Yojana Enrollment.

Offering financial assistance – All TB patients will receive Rs. 500 on a monthly basis.

Frequency of payment – The central govt. will provide financial assistance to the patients each month. This grant will be continued till the patients get well.

Total beneficiaries – The total number of patients enrolled under Nikshay Poshan scheme in 2021 has crossed 10 lakh.

Funds Transfer – All TB patients will receive their financial grant directly in their active bank accounts, which have been linked with Aadhar Cards. The funds will be transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer or DBT.
The implementation of the special Nikshay medical scheme will offer help to the TB patients which would be done under the National Health Mission.
