How to check balance in Employees Providence Fund ?
There are 4 ways to check the balance in Employee Provident Fund (EPF) or Provident Fund (PF) account, as shown in the figure below.
Details of each of these methods are provided below.
Check EPF balance on EPF Portal
Follow the below steps to check EPF balance on EPF Portal

Visit EPF Website

Click on "Our Services". From the drop-down, select "For Employees"

From the Services menu, click on "Member Passbook"

Sign in with your UAN and Password.

Click on Login
-
After logging in, you will see Member IDs of all accounts linked with your UAN.

Click on the Member ID of the EPF account for which you want to check the balance. The EPF passbook will appear on the screen.
However, you can view the details if you satisfy the following conditions.

This facility is to view the Member Passbook for the members registered on the Unified Member Portal.

Passbook will be available after 6 Hours of registration at Unified Member Portal.

Changes in the credentials at Unified Member Portal will be effective at this Portal after 6 Hours.

Passbook will have the entries which have been reconciled at the EPFO field offices.

Passbook facility is not available for the Exempted Establishments Members / Settled Members / In-Operative Members.
Check EPF balance through UMANG Portal
Follow the below steps to check EPF balance through UMANG Portal

Download Umang App from Playstore

Open Umang App and Click on EPFO.

Click on the “Employee Centric Services”

Click on “View Passbook” to check your EPF balance.

Enter your UAN and click on Get OTP. Once you receive the OTP, click on "Login"

Select the member ID of the company for which you want to check the EPF balance

Your passbook will be displayed along with your EPF balance
Check EPF balance by SMS
You can get details of your latest contribution and the PF balance by sending an SMS to 7738299899.
Message Format: EPFOHO UAN ENG
Where ENG is the first three characters of the preferred language. So, if you want to receive the message in Hindi, then type in EPFOHO UAN HIN.
The facility is available in English (default) and Hindi, Punjabi, Guajarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali.
However, you will get to know your PF balance only if the following conditions are satisfied.

Your UAN should be activated.

Your UAN is registered with EPFO.

SMS should be sent from the registered mobile number of UAN
Check EPF balance by Missed Call
You can check PF balance by giving a missed call to 011-22901406.
However, you will get to know your PF balance only if the following conditions are satisfied.

Your UAN should be activated.

Your mobile number should be registered with the UAN as the missed call will be valid only when made from a registered number.

Your UAN is seeded with any one of PAN, Aadhaar or Bank Account.
