The government of Andhra Pradesh has introduced the YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme intending to ensure a secure and dignified life for all the poor people in Andhra Pradesh. As a part of the Navarathnalu, enhancement of pension amount and reduction in the age criteria for old age pension is a major welfare measure to ameliorate the hardships of the poor and vulnerable sections of the society particularly the old and infirm, widows and persons with disability to secure a dignified life.
Beneficiaries under YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme
This scheme is meant to protect the most vulnerable sections of society and provide pensions in the following 12 different categories.

Pension Amount of YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme in Andhra Pradesh
Following are the pension amount of YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme in Andhra Pradesh
-
The benefit under each pension for OAP, Single Women, Weavers, Widow, Fisherman, Toddy Tappers, PLHIV (ART Pensions), Traditional Cobblers will be Rs.2250/- per month
-
Benefits under Disabled, Transgender, Dappu Artists pensions will be Rs.3000/- per month.

CKDU pensions will be Rs.10000/- per month.
Eligibility Criteria of YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme in Andhra Pradesh
Following are the eligibility criteria for YSR Pension Kanuka in Andhra Pradesh.

Total family income should be less than Rs.10,000/- per month in Rural areas and Rs.12,000/- per month in urban areas.
-
Total land holding of the family should be less than 3.00 Ac. of Wet (or) 10 Ac. of Dry land (or) 10 Acres of land put together for this purpose.
-
No family member should be a government employee or Government pensioner. The families of Sanitary workers,Asha workers, Anganwadi helpers’ workers are exempted.
-
Families should not own a four-wheeler (Taxis, Tractors, Autos are exempted).
-
For the last 12 months Monthly electricity consumption of a family dwelling unit (own/rent) should be less than 300 units.
-
No family member should be an income tax payee.
- In Municipal areas, a family who owns no property or less than 1000 sq. feet of built-up area (Residential or commercial) is eligible.
Category Wise Eligibility
-
Old Age : 60 years and above and in respect of ST category 50 years and above
-
Widow: 18 Years and above and widowed. Death certificate of the husband should be produced.
-
Disabled: No age limit. Disability 40% and above and SADAREM certificate required.
-
Weavers: 50 years and above. Certificates from the Handloom Department should be produced.
-
Toddy Tappers: 50 years and above. Members of Toddy Co-operative Societies (TCS) or to an individual tapper under the Tree For Tappers (TFT) Scheme. Certificates should be produced from the Excise Department.

ART pensions (PLHIV): 6 months continuous treatment in ART (AntiRetroviral Therapy) Centre.

Dialysis Pension (CKDU): No age limit. Every month Dialysis treatment is taken at Government / Private Hospitals.
-
Transgender: 18 Years and above, Gender Identity Certificate issued by the competent medical authority.
-
Fishermen: 50 Years and above. Certificates from the Department of Fisheries should be produced.
-
Single Women: Married women separated / deserted above 50 years of age as on date of sanction of pension and the separation period shall be more than 1 year. Unmarried women who are 50 years and above in Rural and 50 years and above in urban areas. Ensure to submit the Certificate issued by the concerned authority.

Dappu Artists: Beneficiary who completed 50 years of age. Beneficiary list will be furnished by the Social welfare Department.

Traditional Cobblers: Beneficiary who completed 40 years of age. Beneficiary list will be furnished by the Social welfare Department.

For the persons with diseases of Thalassemia Major, Sickle Cell disease, Severe Hemophilia (<2% of factor 8 or 9) Bilateral Elephantiasis-Grade 4: No age limit. The beneficiaries’ data will be shared by the HM&FW Department to the CEO, SERP, A.P

For the persons with diseases of Paralysis confining the person to wheelchair or bed and Severe muscular dystrophy cases and accident victims confined to wheelchair or bed: No age limit. The beneficiaries data will be shared to the CEO, SERP, A.P from the SADAREM database and to be verified at field level by the Medical Officer.

Chronic Kidney Disease patients (Stage3,4 & 5) who are not on dialysis and are having following conditions :-

Serum creatinine of >5mg Consistently on two separate occasions with at least 3 months gap (in Government lab).
-
Small contracted kidney on sono graphic evaluation (less than 8 cm)
- Estimated GFR- <15 ml.No age limit. The beneficiaries data will be shared by the HM&FW Department to the CEO, SERP, A.P.
Other Condition
-
One pension will be allowed in the family except in the following conditions:
-
Family having disabled person with 40% and above degree of disability.
-
Dialysis patients (CKDU) / Severe Mental Retardation/ PLHIV (ART).
-
Pensions sanctioned vide GO Rt.No.551 HM&FW Department, dated 26.10.2019

Priority Households under YSR Pension Kanuka in Andhra Pradesh
Priority shall be given to:
-
SC households.
-
Practicing Artisans (Weavers, Toddy Tappers, Barbers, Washer men, Potters, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Cobbler, Animal herder, Village Artists etc) and other Back Ward Classes.

Daily laborers (Daily wage laborers, Agricultural Laborers, Migrated laborers).
-
Nomadic Tribes having no permanent residence.
-
Households with destitute / orphans.
-
Households with Disabled.
- Other poor Households.

Xerox copy of registration in Cooperative society of Toddy Tappers

Weavers should submit a Xerox copy of registration in the Co-operatives society of weavers

How to Apply for YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme in Andhra Pradesh?

Apply through Grama Panchayat with a dully-filled application form along with documents mentioned above
-
After getting an application from Grama Panchayat, Janmabhoomi Committees will check all the detail of the applicant.

The eligible list will be uploaded by the Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO)/Municipal Commissioner to DRDA after verification by the Janma Bhoomi Committee for sanction.

Note: Janmabhoomi is a campaign that looks after and works on development activities through Village Development Committees or JBMV committees, implements government’s welfare schemes and take up initiatives like face-to-face interactions with people to seek their feedback.

In Rural areas, Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) is the sanctioning authority for all pensions, in favour of eligible persons recommended by the Janmabhoomi Committees.

In Urban areas, Municipal Commissioner is the sanctioning authority in respect of all pensions, in favour of eligible persons recommended by the Janmabhoomi Committees.

Mandal Parishad Development Officer / Municipal Commissioner release funds to the Panchayat Secretary / Bill Collector.

Once the pension is sanctioned a Pensioner ID will be provided to the pensioner. The details of pensioner will be available Online.

Panchayat Secretary / Bill Collector Shall disburse pensions directly to the pensioners in the village/ward in the presence of Sarpanch / Ward Member and the members of Gram Panchayat / Ward.

Tabs along with biometric devices have been deployed to the pension disbursement officers enabling them to make payment of pension amount to beneficiaries every month.

Pension will be disbursed on the 1st of every month at a fixed place and time slot allotted by the committee and doorstep payment will be given for bedridden and Leprosy pensioners.

Pensioners are provided with a Rupay card. The pension money is disbursed through a mini ATM.
