രണ്ട് തരം ഭൂമിയുണ്ട്: സ്വകാര്യ ഭൂമി, പുറoബോക്ക് ഭൂമി.

സ്വകാര്യ ഭൂമിക്കായി: നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ആധാരം ആവശ്യമാണ്.

പുറoബോക്ക് ഭൂമി സർക്കാരിന്റെ ഭൂമിയാണ്. ചില സാഹചര്യങ്ങളിൽ, ഭൂമിയില്ലാത്തവർക്ക് സർക്കാർ പുറoബോക്ക് ഭൂമി പതിച്ചു നൽകുന്നു. പതിചു കൊടുക്കുന്ന സമയത് അവര്ക് നൽകുന്ന ഡോക്യൂമെന്റിന്റെ പേരാണ് പട്ടയം എന്നുള്ളത്.

ചിലപ്പോൾ 30 - 40 കൊല്ലങ്ങൾക് മുമ്പ് നിങ്ങളുടെ മുൻ തലമുറക് കിട്ടിയ ഭൂമി ആയിരിക്കാം. അതിന് പട്ടയo കിട്ടിയ ഭൂമി എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടും.

അതിന് ആധാരം കാണണമെന്നില്ല.പട്ടയം ആണ് അതിന്റെ രേഖ.

പട്ടയ ഭൂമിക്  ചിലപ്പോൾ അതിന്റെതായ നിബന്ധനകളും ഉണ്ടാകും. ( ഉദാ : പട്ടയo കിട്ടിയ ഭൂമി ഒരു കാലയളവിനു ശേഷമേ വിൽക്കാൻ കഴിയൂ)
