FASTag system provides a unified and interoperable Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) solution. Currently, FASTag is operational at over 110 state toll plazas across India.
With a view to enhance the coverage of NETC programme and offer seamless services to consumers across the country, a Scheme Guidelines for inclusion of State/City Toll Plazas under NETC Programme (FASTag) was unveiled by the Hon’ble Minister MoRTH in January 2019. The Scheme provides financial assistance to state governments as below:
• 50% of the CAPEX cost of ETC infrastructure installation subject up maximum Rs. 20 lakhs per toll plaza
• ETC programme management fees @ 1.1% of transaction value (charges to issuer banks and Clearing & Settlement charges)
A pilot on parking payment via FASTag has also been carried out at Hyderabad International airport.
It is also envisaged to extend the usage of FASTag to other vehicular payments such as fuel payment,e-challan and various other payments at wayside amenities.
