ഏത് സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് പിതാവിന്റെ പേരിൽ തിരുത്തൽ വരുത്തേണ്ടിവന്നെതെന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടില്ല. വ്യത്യസ്ത സാഹചര്യങ്ങളിൽ നൽകേണ്ട രേഖകളിൽ വ്യത്യാസം വരാം. ചില സന്ദർഭങ്ങളിൽ തിരുത്തൽ അനുവദിക്കാറും ഇല്ല. സാധാരണയായി പിതാവിന്റെ യഥാർത്ഥ പേരു സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്ന രേഖകൾ, വില്ലേജ് ഓഫീസിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വൺ ആൻഡ് ദി സെയിം (രേഖകളിൽ പിതാവിന്റെ പേരിൽ കാണിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള വ്യക്തിയും ഇപ്പോൾ തിരുത്തൽ വരുത്തി ചേർക്കാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്ന പേരിലുള്ള ആളും ഒരാൾ തന്നെ ആണെന്നുള്ള) സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് എന്നിവ സഹിതം തദ്ദേശഭരണ സ്ഥാപനത്തിലെ ജനനമരണ രജിസ്ട്രാർക്ക് അപേക്ഷ നൽകിയാൽ മതിയാകും.
