The Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit aims to provide optimal nutrition for pregnant and lactating women in Tamil Nadu. The kit is being given under the Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit scheme, under which the pregnant women will receive cash assistance.
Benefits of Amma Nutrition Kit in Tamil Nadu
The Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit aims at providing iron tonic and nutritional supplements to pregnant women in Tamil Nadu in two phases. Amma Maternity Nutrition Kits would be distributed twice once in the 12th week and for the second time between the 16th and 20th week of pregnancy.
The scheme will benefit about eight lakh pregnant women every year and would significantly reduce the maternal and infant mortality rates
Kits worth Rs. 2,000 would be given to pregnant women. Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit worth Rs. 2,000 contains the following items.

Procedure of Amma Nutrition Kit in Tamil Nadu
The Pregnant mother should register her pregnancy before 12 weeks with the VHN / UHN or she should have pre-registered her pregnancy before 12 weeks.
